Juniperis - horzontalis Mother Lode

Juniperis - horzontalis Mother Lode

Hardiness Zones: 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Description: Slow-growing, ground hugger that is brilliant yellow gold in spring and summer, passing through auburn in fall on its way to becoming bronze with purple highlights in winter. Grows only 6-8" high and expands horizontally at the rate of 6-12" per year, eventually reaching about 6 feet wide in approximately 10 years. Can be used as a focal point (perhaps at the base of a red-leaved Japanese maple or a blue spruce); can be mass planted as a golden carpet ground cover on 3-4' centers, or it can cascade over timber or rock walls. Choose a site in full sun or very light shade for the brightest golden color. In moderate shade the color becomes lime green. Prefers well-drained soil. Once established, J. h. Mother Lode is very wind and drought tolerant. From 2 gallon pots.
