Description: "Enzian" in German translates to "gentian" describing the true, deep blue of the 6" round heads. When properly grown, H. m. Gentian Dome is the best of the deep blue hydrangeas, with more sun tolerance than most of the other blues. Blooms open with a contrasting white eye, but quickly become solid deep blue. Excellent for cutting and drying. Mid to late season flowering, with an unusually long bloom season. Attractive dark green foliage in summer turns dark red to copper in fall. Superior dark blue hue requires an acid soil (pH 6.5 and below); otherwise blooms will be deep pink. Ht. 48". From 1 gallon pots.
