Clematis - Ernest Markham (III)

Description: Bright red 5-6" flowers with a velvety sheen and soft yellow stamens. Blooms in August - October. Excellent late variety to extend the season. Requires full sun. They are best rejuvenated with heavy pruning every two to three years. Prune back to the lowest strong leaf buds (9 to 18" above ground level) in late winter or early spring. These are the best varieties to use intermingled with roses or other shrubs that require frequent pruning. Ht. 12-16'.
