Cimicifuga (Bugbane) - ramosa Hillside Black Beauty

Description: The same 36" clumps of deeply divided, maple-like foliage as the other species; but on this variety, the foliage is a dark purple that actually seems to deepen as the season advances. In September, strong 5-6' stems are topped with slender bottle brush-like blossoms of creamy white, with a hint of apple-blossom pink. A bonus: they are sweetly fragrant. Plant in a dry spot with dappled shade all day or with morning sun and afternoon shade in moist, rich soil.
