Campanula (Bellflower) - latiloba Hidcote Amethyst

Description: The orchid colored blooms are the closest to pink of any perennial campanula we have encountered. C. latiloba is similar in habit to the more widely grown C. persicifolia, both having tall spikes of cup-shaped blooms suitable for the border background. C. latiloba is distinguished by flowers set more closely to the stem and a habit so aggressive as to be almost a ground cover. Its variety, Hidcote Amethyst, it less vigorous and well enough behaved to be included in the mixed border. The 30" flower spikes rarely need staking and if removed after summer flowering, rebloom will occur in autumn.
