Description: A Japanese species with eye-catching blooms in April-May, much showier than our native Jack-in-the-pulpit. Hooded waxy spathes are chocolate maroon, with white stripes, on the exterior and greenish white, becoming pure white, on the inside - sheltering a pure white, globular, club-shaped spadix. Red berries follow in autumn. Handsome 3 to 5 part leaves are often splashed with silver. Rare and hard to find. Ht. 18-24".
