Bio-Tone Starter (Super-Bio)

The product previously known as Super Bio Soil Life has a new name - Bio-Tone Starter. The product is exactly the same. This product will enhance soil performance in lawns and all gardens (trees, shrubs, bedding plants, vegetables, perennials, roses).

Bio-Tone help restore vitality to poor soils. It is made from a diverse collection of naturally occurring beneficial soil microorganisms, comprised of over 100 different genus and species. These microbes are in a stabilized liquid form so they can go to work immediately upon introduction to the soil.

An abundant and active microbial population is essential to good soil structure and health. While Bio-Tone does contain small amounts of nitrogen and humates, it is best thought of as an enhancement to a regular fertilizer program.

Bio-Tone is especially recommended for new homes that usually have poor quality soil. Often, these soils are highly compacted and have a low level of beneficial microbial activity. In these sites, Bio-Tone can help restore the same growth-promoting virtues that are found in the best naturally balanced, healthy topsoils.

Bio-Tone:

  • Improves effectiveness of fertilizer. The microbial activity enhances nutrient uptake by converting fertilizer to a form that is available to the plant. As a result, regular use of Bio-Tone may help reduce fertilizer runoff and overapplication.
  • Helps correct high salt concentration from fertilizer build-up and de-icers. Salt can be a major factor in the decline of a healthy soil structure. Ideal conditions for plant growth are difficult to maintain and usually require the use of fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides to achieve the desired plant performance. Although these materials do provide improvement in plant growth, they can also have undesired side effects. For example, salts from fertilizer applications can build up and harm plant roots, kill off valuable microorganisms and cause soil compaction. Thus, the most common method for maintaining ideal conditions for plant growth can contribute to long-term harmful effects to the soil. Applications of microbial solutions counteract the harmful build-up of excess fertilizers.
  • Reduces lawn thatch build-up as microbes decompose turf cuttings, adding organic matter to the soil.
  • Encourages the activity of other soil organisms, including earthworms that help create pore spaces for air and water.
  • Improves the soil's natural abilities to control plant diseases, by keeping harmful organisms in check, which in turn may reduce the overdependence on herbicides, pesticides and fungicides.
  • Increases soil moisture retention by reducing soil compaction and improving soil porosity. Soil microorganisms bind tiny soil particles together with organic matter into larger particles creating more pore spaces and reducing soil compression. This results in improvements in: aeration (diffusion of oxygen), water infiltration, amount and depth of root development, nutrient availability, water holding capacity and the soil's ability to store and retain nutrients.

    Application

  • We recommend spraying 1 ounce per 200 sq ft three times per year (late spring, summer and early autumn). This 32 ounce bottle will cover 6,400 sq ft once.
  • Use the hose end sprayer provided and apply evenly to your lawn or soil at the rate recommended above. If using another sprayer, set the dial to 1 ounce per gallon.
  • Do not mix with fungicides.
  • Agitate thoroughly before application by shaking and continue shaking during application.
